Volleyball mourns passing of former JVA President Masao Tachiki

Lausanne, Switzerland, August 14, 2018 – The volleyball family mourns the passing of former JVA President Masao Tachiki.

As a sports management and marketing expert, Masao Tachiki made a great contribution to the sustainable growth of volleyball, both domestically and globally.

Masao Tachiki started playing volleyball at the age of 12. Later he was a member of the volleyball club at the prestigious Tokyo University. After graduating with a law degree, he spent his career in marketing, advertising and corporate communications and showed outstanding management capabilities.

On June 28, 2003, as a man of vision and passion, he became the seventh president of the Japan Volleyball Association and served with devotion.

Masao Tachiki passed away in Tokyo at the age of 77.

The FIVB and the whole of the volleyball family express their condolences and send their prayers to the family and friends of Masao Tachiki.
